God’s Not Dead – Three Facts

God’s Not Dead – Three Facts

But if you refuse to serve the Lord , then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord .” Joshua 24:15 NLT.

Every body on earth serves or worships  something or someone. It may be a man made god, it may be a career or relationship or the Almighty God. We were made with a vacuum to worship God and if you are not worshipping God you are definitely worshipping something else. A sport television channel on Digital Satellite Television (DSTV), had a commercial that said for soccer enthusiasts their god was soccer and their temple was DSTV. This may seem overrated but there’s certainly some kernel of truth in it.

Our God-shaped vacuum was put in us to lead us to God. God has reached out to us in various ways concerning his existence and he yearns to have a relationship with us. A cursory look at creation speaks of the existence of God. The magnificence of the universe, the breathtaking view of mountains and waterfalls and the various laws implicit in nature: birth, growth and death all echo his existence, his greatness and His wisdom.

The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for them. Psalm 19: 1 – 3 NLT.

Besides creation, there’s also our conscience. That little voice on the inside of you which makes you feel bad when you do something wrong. Yes, that little voice that refuses to be silenced and begs to be listened to. our conscience was given to us by God.

Even Gentiles, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know his law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right. Romans 2:14‭-‬15 NLT.

Besides creation and our conscience, God has now expressly spoken to us by His son, Jesus Christ.

Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. Hebrews 1: 1 -2 NLT.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No one goes to the father except through Him. (John 14:6). Jesus is the wisdom of God and the power of God ( 1 Corinthians 1:24). He is the wisdom of God because He is the Lamb slain for the salvation of mankind before the creation of the  world (Revelations 13:8 ). Even before man sinned, God in his infinite wisdom already had a remedy. He is the power of God because placing your faith in Jesus gives you victory over sin; victory over addictive or compulsive behaviour.

Today God beckons to you through His Son Jesus. He longs to have a relationship with you. Would you heed his call? It all begins with you surrendering to Him and admitting that you are tired of running away from Him. You can say this prayer:

Dear Lord, I long for a relationship with you. I come to you through your son Jesus. Please forgive my past and grant me the power to live a victorious life. Amen.
