A Better Covenant

A Better Covenant

But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. Hebrews 8:6 NKJV

Life hacks, life can be hard. There are times when we get what our deeds deserve and there are times when we are served a raw deal. But either way, we all appreciate a serving of mercy and grace.

The fall of a man at the height of his career is indeed very sad. I was shocked to find out about Will Smith’s assault on Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards. This was just minutes before Will received the Best Actor award for his role in King Richard. A teary Will apologised for his conduct when giving his acceptance speech. However, there was only so much his apology would do. Days after, he was slapped with a ten- years ban from Academy events…

Jesus came as a mediator of a better covenant between God and men.  Before Jesus came in the flesh, we had to sacrifice bulls and heifers and use their blood to atone for our sins. This atonement never erased our guilt but only covered it (Hebrews10:4).

As a result of Jesus’ death and resurrection, his blood wipes away the guilt of all who believe in Him. He came as our advocate and mediated a better covenant. One of of forgiveness, regeneration and restoration for His followers (Titus 3:5)

Through his death and resurrection all who confess His name are given a deal which is better than what our deeds deserve. We never could meet God’s standards (Romans 3:23). In His love, He made a way for us to come to Him. Would you receive His gift of salvation today?

Thought: What do you like most about the new covenant Jesus gives?

If you would want to accept Jesus as Saviour, kindly say the prayer below.

Dear Lord, I admit that I am a sinner. Please come into my heart, forgive me of my sins and make me a new person in Jesus name. Amen.
