Money, Fame and Love IV
Yaw Mensah is a ruthless and wealthy business man who has done more than a few crazy things in the past. His daughter Angie, falls in love with DereK Orleans, a young lawyer. Derek is the son of the late Judge Orleans, who died a few years ago under mysterious circumstances.
In the last Chapter, Angie invited Derek to her father’s birthday party and introduced him to her dad. Let’s read on to find out how the story unfolds.
‘I’m really sorry for my dad’s strange behaviour’ Angie apologized to Derek, her brows knitted together.
‘You need not be ‘ Derek replied squeezing her palms gently to reassure her, but inside he was as puzzled as ever. He meets the father of the love of his life and the man treats him like the plague. But he kept these thoughts to himself. Angie was disturbed enough and he did not want to ruin the evening for her by disclosing his worries..
`What about we dance to the song playing?’ he asked.
Angie only shrugged.
`I take that to mean you have no objections’ he said taking her hands in his and together they moved to the dance floor.
By the time the clock struck 12:00 midnight, the crowd that had assembled in Yaw’s house had thinned out to a handful of couples most of whom were just about leaving. Among these people was Kwarnena Mensah, Yaw’s half-brother who had not been invited to the party but had come anyway. He had lurked in the shadows and had observed with increasing anger the way Yaw carried his wife around like an object.
That was his Serwaa, the one to whom he had been engaged to marry till Yaw came between the two of them. From childhood Yaw had always coveted whatever it was that Kwarnena had – his grades, his scholarships, his fiancee and more recently his business. Initially he didn’t mind Yaw’s green eyes until they succeeded in taking
from him the only woman he had ever loved. What he found most inexplicable was that Yaw with his booming construction firm, envied his fledgling one that had only just began. That made him arrive at only one conclusion — Yaw was surely the devil incarnate. Concerning Serwaa though, he couldn’t totally blame Yaw. If her love for him had been as true as she professed, he would not have succeeded in manipulating her feelings. But like most women, she flocked where the money was and Yaw had lots of it – most of it was ill gotten.
He took one last look at Serwaa looking so alluring in her white gown and for that moment he could feel the venom in his heart melting away. Out of nowhere Yaw appeared at Serwaa’s side and wrapped his hands possessively around her waist. Suddenly Kwamena felt the bitterness flooding his heart as quickly as it had dissipated. He shook his head sadly and turned to pick his way back the same way he had come; through a path almost hidden by thorny bushes. Yaw may be free from the law now but the steely grip of the law would certainly find him. Oh yes it would, Kwamena consoled himself with these words.
Do you think Kwamena, Yaw’s half brother, would make Yaw pay for all the evil he has done or would Kwamena choose to let sleeping dogs lie? Make a date with the creative corner next week Saturday to find out what happens next.

You just revived the kind of literature that used to run through my veins, when I was just a boy.
I think Kwamena will let sleeping dogs lie. Legally, he had nothing to hang on to make a case. It hurts, but at some point, he has to realize that there are other equally pretty ladies out there in the jungle, looking out for a young man to…..
