Learning to Love II

Learning to Love II

An interview with Mrs. Margaret Mensah – a marriage counsellor

Continued from last week

Jesus in the Boat

Meg’s newfound relationship with Christ marked a new chapter in her life. She became committed to church activities. Some years after accepting Christ, she went into full-time Christian ministry. Her work involved encouraging people going through difficult moments, speaking to small groups, etc.

Life at home

The challenges in her life did not cease after she became a Christian. Her husband was still not supportive in running the affairs of the house. He was laissez faire, leaving everything to her.

She had to raise her children almost single-handedly, but the grace of God abounded towards her.

After her husband’s family members declined to step in and hold their son to account, she realized that she had to weather the storm with prayer. Also as a result of the ministry she was engaged in, she faced many spiritual attacks. So she prayed, a lot. She had personal all-nights of prayer about four times a week and often had to rely on dark coffee and gum to be alert in the day.

Advice to the youth

Meg says that it is good to marry someone you can pray with. She explains that we would not have all the wisdom for all of life’s issues, but together you can pray to God and ask him for wisdom and strength.

To be continued next week

    I am impatient….

The bit about Christ is quite refreshing, even though from experience, accepting Jesus is certainly not the beginning of joyful moments…mmmm. Let’s see how it will end.
