New Mercies for a New Day!

“This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. Through the Lord ’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness”. Lamentations 3:21-23 NKJV

Many people get excited on the first day of the year. A new year means new beginnings, new hope, etc. A great number of us, also get excited on our birthdays. The old year is passed and a new one is starting. Everybody likes new things: new clothes, new shoes, a new car, a new house, you name it. New is fun!

With God, we can get excited about every day and receive it with eager anticipation. This is because God’s compassion is renewed for us every morning! What a gift! His compassions never fail and His faithfulness is great.

Every day is an opportunity to start anew, not just the first day of the year or on our birthdays. With the gift of a new day, there’s fresh grace to make right the errors of yesterday.

Don’t be fixed on the pain of yesterday or even transfixed on the victories of the past. Let’s seize the opportunity that today presents to forge ahead and do more. It’s a new day, let’s give God glory.

As a result of God’s mercies, every day is a fresh start. We should not let the failures of yesterday keep us from reaping the benefits of today. Hallelujah!
