God’s Back-up for Your Parenting Journey

God’s Back-up for Your Parenting Journey

Today i want to share with you on the mercy of God. The mercy of God, what’s that and how different is that from grace? To be honest, the mercy of God is something I have not seriously mediated on till this morning. Grace is the favour of God that gives you something you don’t deserve. Mercy is the goodness and kindness of God that saves you from damnation or from the horrible consequences of your actions. So in a sense they are related.

There are various Scriptures on mercy in the Bible but i would like to comment on the two below.

Romans 9:16 says ‘So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can neither choose it nor work for it. (NLT)

Lamentations 3:22- 23 says because of the Lord’s great love for us we are not consumed. His mercies are new every morning, great is His faithfulness. (NIV)

Through my parenting experience, I have come to realise just how tough it is to raise a child and to get it right. There are issues of the child falling ill, issues of the friends they make at school and other external influences that come in through books, television, the internet, etc.  In this regard, there are some right decisions you can make as a parent but you cannot get it right all the time. There are also some choices your child makes for himself or herself.

I guess this is what the Bible meant when it said commit your ways unto the Lord, trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass. (Ps 35:7) And also when it says when the enemy shall come in like a flood the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard and put him to flight (Is a 59:19).

Today take a moment and reflect on the mercy of God. Pray that God’s mercy shall make up for your inadequacies. Shalom and life to you.

This has been my constant prayer”Lord have mercy on Me!” It is my daily cry since i understood what the mercy of our Father means. without His mercy our best intentions and actions are just fanciful desires. only mercy and not judgment prevails in Christ. Thanks for this reminder. Amen

Very insightful…Mercy fills the gap of our shortcomings. We must depend on God to go ahead of us in raising our kids in this perverted times. Bless you Woman of God.

“….and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return.” 2nd Timothy 1:12(NLT)
