Understanding the Times

Understanding the Times

of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their command; I Chronicles 12:32 NKJV

The COVID pandemic that struck the globe this year has tested the pulses of leaders across the world – from presidents, to finance ministers, to scientists, to educationists, to business owners, to church leaders … the list is endless. Various interventions were put forward by our leaders in a bid to arrest the situation or cope with the menace.

Not the least in the categories of leaders who have been tested are parents – especially parents who have had to work from home because of the nature of their jobs.

I find myself in this category. In an earlier article which I titled ‘Working from Home; Memoirs ‘, I shared a few insights on how parents who had to work from home could manage their time. But in reality, it hasn’t been easy over the weeks implementing those suggestions, it has been fraught with numerous challenges.

The Bible says that the men of Issachar had understanding of the times and knew what Israel had to do. Isn’t that simply great! In times of distress and confusion, what we certainly need is an understanding of the times and a sense of direction.

A few days ago, while thinking about how I could better manage my time and achieve results, I had a few more ideas about how I could organize my day better for greater productivity.

Perhaps like me, you are at your wits end concerning one situation or another. The good news is, God is ever ready to inspire us with ideas through His Holy Spirit. He speaks to us through His Word (the Bible), speaks directly to our spirits at times through His Holy Spirit and at times speaks to us through others (Job 32:8, John 14:26, john 16:13).

So the next time you are confused or distressed, simply tune in to God. He has a Word for you.

Blessings and shalom

Always on Point. I see myself in this article.

I used to get confused when I pray and wait impatiently for results. It was rather a sign of immaturity and anxiety.

I am no more anxious because now I know how to hear the voice of God.
God is always talking….we must prepare ourselves to hear from God and follow His schedules. It puts a stop to anxiety…
